LOW COST THERAPY

We believe therapy should be accessible for all individuals, couples, and families. By partnering with Drexel University's Marriage & Family Therapy program, we are able to provide low-cost therapy with our MFT Interns. Find out more about what to expect when working with our MFT Interns.

How It Works

A therapist and a client speaking in therapy
WHO WOULD BE MY THERAPIST?

Low-cost therapy is with an MFT Intern, who is currently in either their first or second year at Drexel's MFT Masters Program. Interns are clinically supervised by Dr. Jesse Smith, meaning he oversees and supports interns outside of session in providing the most effective care.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Intern rates are $30 per 50-minute session and $45 per 75-minute session for individuals, families, and couples. Group therapy is also $45 per group session.

Low cost,

It is normal to have hesitations when working with an intern — do they really know what they are doing compared to a licensed professional?

However, some research shows that therapists early in their careers (even interns!) indeed have high rates of client satisfaction and success, even compared to therapists with many years of experience. One theory is because inherent, genuine curiosity is, in some cases, more easily accessible to newer therapists; whereas, more seasoned professionals may tend to see clients with less nuance.

Additionally, our interns receive robust support from their academic program, including 2-3 hours of dyadic and group supervision in addition to Dr. Jesse Smith and Waterloo consultation groups. Trauma-informed, culturally attuned training is also foundational to our interns' practice.
